The fishing for the past week has been slow although on Saturday it began pick up on the beach. Mullet are in the wash at Absecon Island. Striped bass are picking up off the sod banks and are moving through into the front but still at dusk and dawn. Mike Shipton picked up 2 stripers off the Longport beach on Saturday. Ted Rosner landed 4 keepers in the Margate back bay on Sunday on a Smack It lure.

The winds and waves have made far off shore fishing slow.

Mother Nature has not made this a good fishing week. The canyons have been on       hold due to the high winds. Chunking was working well prior to the weather.

The Sea Isle Ridge remains strong on a troll. Blue fin tuna and false albacore along with blue fish are being boated.

The O.C. reef along with the A.C. and G.E. reef are all producing excellent flounder along with sea bass which are showing up in good numbers.

Crokers and small weakfish remain off Margate in 30 to 50ft. of water.

The back bays are full of spike weakfish and blues up the 2lb. Stripers are still being taken on lures at low light.

Some notable catches were made this week. Michael Martinez of Somers Point landed a 10lb.9oz. flounder in water near the 9th. street bridge. Mike Keller landed an 11lb.9oz. flounder while fishing at the O.C. reef.

Crabbing still remains excellent.

The fishing has been good to excellent depending on your location. Fishing on the day time troll has slowed down in the past week. The water in the Spencer and the Lindenkohl has cooled down. Joe Tuohy Jr . and Capt. Ted Hunter did however boat a 66.5 lb. long fin tuna out at the Spencer and Perry Arsenis caught and released his first white marlin along with an 80 lb. yellow fin tuna and dolphin. Over night chunking in these areas are still producing catches. The Wilmington has heated up with chunking and this is also true for the Sausages off Ocean City Maryland. Blue fin is being taken there.

Scallop boat chunking still remains strong. The Sea Isle Ridge is still holding both small blue fin tuna and large bluefish which can be taken on a troll.

The reefs are producing both flounder along with sea bass in the good to excellent category. Mike Keller landed an 11 lb. 9 oz. flounder at the Ocean City reef.

The Great Egg reef and the Atlantic City reef are producing fish as well. Croakers are being taken in 30 to 55 ft. water off of Absecon Island along with some small weakfish.

The back bays are still allowing stripers to be caught. This is only accomplished during low light conditions. Try plugging off the sod banks at the top of the tide at first light.

Crabbing is at its best this time of the year.
