Well Memorial Day weekend has come and gone, so as far as the gang at Gifford Marine is concerned it's Summer Time.  If we had listened to the weathermen on TV we probably should have all grabbed a 6 pack and curled up in front of the boob tube.  However it turned out to be a pretty decent weekend.

The interesting thing is that the under 10 set seems to be catching the biggest fish as the following  seems to prove.

On Memorial Day, Brad Accardi, of the ripe old age of 7,  accompanied Tim Hyde into Lake's Bay.  Brad caught his first weakfish, weighing in at 7 lbs, 4 oz.  28" inches long with a girth of 15 ".

Where is this kid  going from here???

Not to be out done, our friend Tom Caterina has something to smile about, even more important then catching a big fish himself as he writes:

I fished with my boy Brandon late afternoon Sunday for a couple of hours in front of Harrah's. We fished during the incoming tide in 10' feet of water where the water temp was 64 degrees. It was a little breezy but the casino helped shelter us from the wind. We managed to catch a dozen flatties but unfortunately could only keep one fat 18 incher.

Everybody, please note that  Brandon, age 6, is wearing a USCG approved PFD.  We want this young man around as a customer for a long time.

Finally, Mike McElroy showed up to prove that someone over the ripe old age of 10, is able to catch a fish.  This 6.5 pounder was caught near the Margate bridge using a TNT Bucktail (satisfied Tony?)

Something to remember; we are entering the first shed of the season .  The crabs are looking for a place to molt.  This means, rocks, piling, bridges etc.  The weakies know this.  Get in close to catch 'em.   If your boat's to big we have 16' Carolina Skiffs to rent.
